Škriniar is a centre back, who can also play as side back. He debuted in 2011 with Žilina. After 89 matches with the club − plus a short loan at ViOn Zlaté Moravce Vráble in 2013 − he transferred to Italy in January 2016. He joined Sampdoria, where he played 38 games in a season and a half. He was sold to Inter in 2017, where he played 169 matches and scored 8 goals so far. He gained 46 caps and scored 3 goals for Slovakia, taking part to the 2016 and 2020 UEFA Euro.
Škriniar is a strong defender, able marker and hard tackler with high mentality. He can fearlessly challenge the opposing strikers in 1-on-1 situations or anticipate them to intercept the ball. He's not too fast but is gifted with fine technique and can pass the ball to set up the play. Tall and in possession of a good leap, he's quite effective in the air. In fact, he scored 5 of his 8 goals for Inter with headers.
