INFO:Alessandro Rampini − Carlo's younger brother − was a right inside or winger who played 91 matches and scored 82 goals for Pro Vercelli from 1910 to 1923. He then played 2 more games in the 1925-26 season, scoring once. He gained 1 cap for Italy in 1920, deciding not to play anymore for the national team because he felt marginalized by his teammates due to three volley goals he scored during training. He's remembered for the goal he scored in the 1921-22 Prima Divisione final against Bologna: the match ended 1-1 and due to the rules at the time, they had to play until one team scored; Rampini eventually scored the winning goal at the 128' minute.
Rampini was a very prolific striker who had the peculiarity to play mostly with the tip of the boot. Similar to his brother Carlo, Alessandro Rampini was quick, had great acceleration and dribbling skills to overcome the opponents − which happened often − and a very powerful shot. He was a free kick and corner taker, his passes were accurate and fast but he tried too often the personal action. He could score very beautiful goals that let the crowd breathless, in fact he could score with volleys, bicycle kicks or overheads.
There's a curious anecdote about Rampini: he debuted in the Italian top league when he was only 13 years old as team captain against Inter on April 24th 1910 for the final. Pro Vercelli decided to play with the youth team as a protest against the federation because Inter broke the rules when they signed the Swiss Ermanno Aebi, telling that he was Italian. The match ended 10-3 for Inter but Rampini scored one goal and had a very good performance.
