Bonometti was a defensive midfielder who could also play in defence as sweeper, centre back or right back. One of the most important players in the history of Brescia, he spent almost his entire career with the Rondinelle, bringing them from Serie C1 to Serie A in a couple of seasons. He's the team's longest serving captain as well as their record-man for most appearances with 475 matches plus 31 goals from 1978 to 1996. He played also for Ancona in 1989-90.
A tall and strong player, Bonometti had the task to mark and press the opposing attacking midfielder or secondary striker. He had the chance to stop successfully legends such as Diego Maradona and Michel Platini. He was methodic and the one who mostly gave orders and help to the defenders, especially when they were in trouble. He had good general technique and thanks to his height and power he was dangerous in the opposing area with headers or near the edge of the box with long range shots.
