Innocenti was Pro Vercelli regular goalkeeper during the club's golden era. He played 113 matches for the team from 1907 to 1915. He gained 5 caps for Italy between 1913 and 1914.
A short but very good goalkeeper, Innocenti had great reaction and agility combined with very good elevation. He was effective also at saving shots from the distance, often by blocking them instead of pushing them away. When he pushed the ball away − for example during a set piece − he did that with powerful punches, which were renowned.
