Incocciati was a centre forward or winger, in attack or midfield. He grew up at Milan, where he played 92 matches and scored 8 goals from 1979 to 1985. After playing for Ascoli, Atalanta and Empoli, he joined Pisa in 1988: 66 games and 20 goals in two years with the Nerazzurri. Then he had a very good season at Napoli in 1990-91. He retired in 1995 after spells at Bologna and Ascoli.
Incocciati wasn't a prolific scorer during his early career but became one when he joined Pisa. Left-footed, he was accurate with the right foot as well. He was also an able and reactive header, could score great goals from difficult positions and took penalties. He could pass the ball and was an occasional corner taker. Gifted with good technique and a smooth left touch, he was nicknamed "Omar" by Ascoli's supporters in comparison with the legendary Omar Sívori.
