Attack MindedINFO:Merighi was an inside forward in the midfield or attack. He played most of his career at Modena: 226 matches and 31 goals from 1962 to 1972 (in the middle an appearance for Torino in 1967-68). He played also for Newell's Old Boys and was part of Lazio in 1961-62, even though he didn't play a match.
Merighi was right footed but could use the left as well. He was gifted with good technique and his shots had good power but he was slow, somehow clumsy and this may have effected negatively his break through Italian football. Not always brilliant, he was though more successful in Serie B, where he could score but also be a reliable playmaker for his teammates, delivering accurate passes, especially long ones. In fact his playstyle was clean and flamboyant, made of exchanges and passes so beatiful to be even compared to Omar Sívori. He and Jorge Toro were the heart of Modena in Serie B. In fact both midfield and attack didn't work when they were absent.
