INFO:
Armstrong was a side midfielder or winger, mostly on the left side. He spent almost his entire career for Arsenal, making 621 appearances from 1961 to 1977, scoring 68 goals. He played also for Leicester City, Stockport County and Norwegian club MjĂžlner before retiring in 1981.
One of Arsenal greatest legends, Armstrong was renowned for his incredibly accurate crosses and corners kicks with both feet - it was estimated that in the 1970-71 season over half of Arsenal goals came from his crosses. He was a tireless hard-working player, running up and down the flank, scoring and making his teammates score. He was gifted with superb technique and close ball control, great speed with short sprints. He had great determination, outstanding courage and amazing energy. It was said that to stop Arsenal you had to stop Armstrong first. He could cover every part of the flank, helping also in defence. He's considered as one of Arsenal most consistent players ever and arguably one of the greatest players to never win a full cap for England due to the fact that coach Alf Ramsey didn't use wingers.
