INFO:

French central defender Laurent Blanc is recognised as one of the finest players in his position in the later years of the twentieth century. He enjoyed a long and distinguished club career lasting twenty years, and won nearly 100 caps for his country in an equally successful international career.

Blanc was the consummate defender, a brilliant reader of the game who is strong in the air and a precise passer of the ball too. In addition, this former attacking midfielder turned libero has often "freed" the Blues by scoring decisive goals. Like this "golden goal" scored against the Paraguayans in the round of 16 of the 1998 World Cup. Yet at his beginnings, as a midfielder, the shy Alesian displayed a certain nonchalance far removed from the determination and the influence he displayed at the end of his international career, which ended in September 2000 against the England. A good technician, he always offers a clean raise, thanks to his above-average vision of the game and his art of placement.
