His name is mostly related to Genoa, where he played 234 matches and scored 5 goals from 1988 to 1990. Nicknamed il Capitano by Genoa's supporters, he's the team's longest serving captain ─ six seasons in a row ─ alongside Claudio Onofri and Marco Rossi. He played also for Pisa, Livorno, Ternana, Parma and Roma among other clubs. He retired in 1997. He tragically died from SLA in 2002 and Genoa retired the shirt n° 6 right after. Regarded as one of the best ever Italian sweepers, Signorini sadly never capped for Italy because there were already Gaetano Scirea first and Franco Baresi after. He was a consistent defender, tall and strong. He possessed outstanding leadership not only for the other defenders ─ who played around his figure ─ but for the entire team. He was always the last to give up, even when Genoa was fighting to avoid relegation. He was gifted with extraordinary tactical sense, vision of the game and the right toughness. He was understandably a bit slow but effective in terms of anticipation and positioning. He was effective at defending but could also go up and support the midfield. He was capable in the air, reaching the ball with the head before the opponent many times. He was also good with the feet and Osvaldo Bagnoli at Genoa used him as a sort of playmaker from the back because Signorini could deliver good long balls to the strikers, especially Tomáš Skuhravý.
