Martins plays as centre forward or winger. His professional career began at Reggiana in 2000. He had his most prolific seasons at Inter from 2002 to 2006 and Newcastle United from 2006 to 2009, scoring respectively 49 and 35 goals in 135 and 104 matches. He then played without the same success for Wolfsburg, Rubin Kazan, Birmingham City and Levante. He had a few good seasons at Seattle Sounders between 2013 and 2015, scoring 43 times in 83 games. He left for China, where he played at Shanghai Shenhua and his actual club Wuhan Zall. He gained 42 caps for Nigeria, scoring 18 goals.
Martins is renowned mainly for his athletic characteristics: outstanding agility and speed − he can cover 100 metres in less than 11 seconds − and an incredible leap − equal to his height − that made him score some headers. He's not tall but has good strength and most of the times, the best way to stop him is by tackling him down. In fact, he proved to be very able at gaining free kicks and penalties. He's left-footed but uses the right foot with frequency and almost same accuracy − at both Inter and Newcastle United, for example, he scored with the right almost as much as he did with the left − and is capable to use the outside as well. He's quick on the ball and can dribble efficiently his opponents. On the other hand, his tight control isn't always remarkable. He can give either power or precision to his shots. While he scored some valuable goals with first time or long range shots, he can also miss incredibly easy chances in front of the goal. Despite his main abilities may make think different, he showed a fine short and long passing ability, thanks to which he made assists in multiple occasions.

It's all a mistery know why Konami was so generous with him back in those days, but at the end doesn't matter. When i saw him playing i realize that Konami was in the right path and they seré highlighting his skills or at least his strong points, this is how i use him.

In PES 2011, for example, he has the same values I gave him. Thankfully they changed their mind at some point.
