Hugo was undisputable leader inside and outside the pitch, talented and with good close control of the ball and great playmaking capacities. He was the player who used to make short and fast passes, making the team moving around him. He was very intelligent player who used to make good runs in the box and score spectacular goals, but also create chances for his teammates as well. Wearing the fringed jacket and carrying for several years the captain's armband Olympia team in the arm, forged in Hugo ranks Talavera deans a brilliant career, which reached higher titers nationally and internationally. Since joining the club, had six championships local Olympia, were also added to the highest international achievements: the 1979 Copa Libertadores, Interamerican Cup and the Intercontinental. The years went by and the player, like the rest of his colleagues from that golden era team, was away from professional football to pursue other activities, although, as he admits, white and black will take forever in the heart. "The then we hung the spoils, but for me it will always be proud to have been part of those schools where I was lucky enough to share with great players. Those glories that we must ascribe to those who were in the field, but are the result of joint work and a winning mentality, positive from the club head, which were the president and directors. Nor should we forget the coaching staff. Football is a team sport where it would be unfair to give more prominence to the players who play in a certain position where it is easier to excel. All positions are important, "said the former captain, now recognized as an outstanding professional in our architecture. Talavera did most of his career in Olimpia, had only brief stages of absence, as the year it was transferred abroad, specifically to Newell's from Argentina. This explains the strong attachment he has for the institution fringed. "Olympia has always been my home, and to this day I still feel the affection of fans Olympians, who keep giving me joy that I experienced in my years as a player," he adds. The former Olympia stars as a collaborator was also another great figure of that time, Alicia Solalinde in the technical direction of Olympia campus, a true Olympia emblem which represents one of the brightest stages Paraguayan football. |
