INFO:
Masinga was a centre-forward. His career started in 1990 at Jomo Cosmos. He then spent four great years at Mamelodi Sundowns, scoring 98 goals in 108 matches between 1991 and 1994. What followed were a few underwhelming seasons at Leeds United, St. Gallen and Salernitana between 1994 and 1997. He eventually had better times at Bari from 1997 to 2001, making 84 appearances and scoring 24 goals. He retired one year later after a short spell with Al-Wahda in the United Arab Emirates. Much more successful with the South Africa national team, he capped 58 times, scored 19 goals and won the 1996 African Cup of Nations.
Regarded as one of South Africa's greatest strikers, Masinga was known for his great strength, leadership, good pace, notable dribbling and goal scoring ability. He wasn't particularly quick on the ball but his speed off the ball was solid and allowed him to get on the ball quickly. While his technique was above average, his frame and powerful physique allowed him to keep the ball and defend it even outside of the opposing area. In fact, it wasn't rare for him to be the one to finalise the attack with a pass forward. Even though he wasn't particularly prolific after moving abroad from his native country, Masinga still scored his fair share of goals thanks to his power, shot technique, instinct inside the box, excellent heading ability and accuracy with both feet.
