INFO:
Rezaei is a former centre back. His career began in 1995 at Bargh Tehran. He then played for Rah Ahan and Zob Ahan before transferring to Perugia in 2001. He didn't have two memorable seasons, and was sold to Messina in 2003. In the first season, he helped the team obtaining the promotion to Serie A. He eventually remained for two more years, making a total of 110 appearances, scoring 2 goals. After an underwhelming experience at Livorno from 2006 to 2008, he came back to Asia, playing for Persepolis, Shahin, and Paykan in Iran, Al-Ahli in Qatar. He retired in 2012. He capped for Iran 54 times, scoring 3 goals.
Rezaei was a strong, steady man marker and a hard but fair tackler, who though had tough times against strikers who could push towards the goal by using strength and speed. He was able in protecting the ball with his large physique, although due to his lack of speed, quick strikers could anticipate him or take the ball off him with a sprint. Nicknamed "Flying carpet" for his origins and remarkable ability in the air, Rezaei possessed excellent jump and good heading that allowed him to score a few goals after he joined the offense during corner kicks. As he was consistent during his Messina years, he was supposed to be one of the key players for Iran at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. However, he didn't perform well as he received some criticism following a few mistakes that led to his team suffering goals.
