Ítalo Estupiñán is a former Ecuadorian football player who used to play as a central forward, he is considered the best Ecuadorian player from the 70s, despite that he is not very recognized en Ecuador, he is more famous in Mexico where he spend the best years of his career. In Mexico he was elected the best player of the Mexican league in 1975 and also won two league tittles one with Toluca and another one with Puebla, he won too a Interamericana cup playing for América.
He was a very powerful player, with good header and very elastic as well, he was nicknamed by the Mexican media "the wild cat" because his elastic skills.
For Ecuador national team he only played 6 games and scored 2 goals, He used to play as a Left winger in national team because the central forward used to be Alberto Spencer.
