INFO

One of the best forwards in the country's first post-war years. The most productive striker of Dinamo Moscow's team history in all-Union tournament. Powerful, fast, energetic, had an unusually high capacity for work. Compared with his illustrious partners, Solovyov was less technically skilled, but he was always a real "motor" of the team, inexhaustible and giving all the best on the field without a trace. Subtly felt the moment to rush to the goal, having received the ball, he was almost unstoppable. Possessed a strong and powerful shot from both legs. With his crooked legs, right and left, he fired at the goal, like a sniper with a telescopic sight. Short-legged and gutta-percha, he flew into the penalty area in a whirlwind, strikingly strong on his feet. Along the shortest path, he rushed to the goal, puffed up his head and turned his shoulders. He liked to fly into the goal with the ball - a special chic - but more often he didn’t take risks, he fired as hard as he could past the goalkeeper. His goals were especially humiliating for goalkeepers - simple and rude, as the truth. This unsophisticated, homely football performed by Solovyov did not look too aesthetically pleasing.
