Al-Jasem is a former left back. He spent his entire career at Kuwait SC from 1977 to 1990. He played for Kuwait at least 16 times, winning the 1980 AFC Asian Cup and taking part to the 1982 FIFA World Cup. A mainly defensive minded player, Al-Jasem was an average side back. He wasn't strong as he had a very short and thin physique. However, he was quite careful in the defence as he was good at waiting for his opponent and take the ball from him. He was superb in the anticipation, sporadically showing decent tackling and ability in the air. Once he got the ball, he usually distributed it with fine short passes even though he was occasionally in charge of free kicks so that he could send a cross forward. He rarely used to challenge his opponent with a dribbling or pushed forward, which he did only to set up the offense with a short pass. Despite playing on the left side, he was right-footed and never used to left foot.
