From 1909 the club was still taking office in the First Division, the second national level. FC Malinois worked his way there soon on the second tier, but stranded there in 1912 as well as 1913 third place, and grabbed as each next promotion. In 1921 it was still touch: FC Malinois finished second in its series and so promoted for the first time in its existence to the Ereafdeling, the highest national level. In the early years the team consisted almost exclusively of Malines students of the Catholic University of Leuven, and their time was therefore nicknamed "the Student". The stay in the highest class, the rest of the 1920s is not without difficulties expired. In 1921-1922, the first season, FC Malinois indeed signed last and relegated straight away back to the Second Division. Malinois stayed there most top drive was two seasons later as second and earned another promotion. Again, the season in the league no success, because after a last place was further immediate degradation. The next season, in 1925-1926, won Malinois are set and promoted immediately. For the third time in a row was this promotion is limited to one season: club once again fell back a level. In 1928 took Malinois after one season in the Second Division title, and so rose for the fourth time in eight years to the Honorary Division. Now the club could take several seasons to maintain the highest level. Meanwhile, in 1924 the supporters federation "Malinwa" established by special request of President Francis Dessain. The federation was an umbrella organization for the different supporters' clubs. In 1929 the club was at its 25th anniversary the title "Royal" and was RFC Malinois. Malinois played several seasons in the middle, but ended in the 1930-1931 season for the first time at the top. The team finished in second place, three points from champions Antwerp FC. The club this performance could then no longer match and remained an ordinary average performer. August Hellemans is the first player from FC Malinois who to Red Devil kicks. In the years 1940, RFC Malinois however successful: In 1942/1943 the club picked up his first league title. The second title came a few years later, in 1945/1946. In 1948 it became even third league title in six years. The following seasons Malinois could no longer battle for the highest price and the club was again an average performer. In 1952 the royal title in the club name Dutchified to "Royal", the club was now officially KFC Malinois. Malinois had a strong season in 1953-1954, where it stranded in second place, just one point of champions RSC Anderlechtois. Two seasons later, nine years after the last league title, but the team finished in the last place and had Malinois bags again to the Second Division. The club remained there for several years and was suspended in 1962 again promoted, when she claimed the title. The return of the highest class went again not easy, because immediately dropped the club back to last place. The season is increased Malinois from 1965 yet again to the highest class, where the club this time four seasons could maintain. In 1969 the club fell back again to the second class. KV Mechelen continued in Second Class in the middle hang the coming years, the club promoted again in 1981. Mechelen was admittedly only fifth place, but had to win in the final round enough to promotion to enforce. As for so many times before in the club's history turned this first season back to nothing: Mechelen last and sank again. Like several times before also managed the club after a first failure, however, to the following year once again promoted. KV Mechelen won the Second Division title in 1983 and rose again. This time the club would again experience several successful seasons. In the mid 80's, KV Mechelen in a short time a Belgian club. A first successful year came in 1987: Mechelen was second in the national competition at only two points of RSC Anderlecht and also picked up for the first time the Belgium Cup. Yet three years the club played even European, but hit every few rounds away. KV Mechelen had the mid-80s in a short time to the national and even European summit reprocessed, but disappeared after the collapse of the financial input from John Cordier mid 90s in just a short time from the top. In 1997 finished Mechelen again as the penultimate, and so fell to the Second Division. The club took its old status of lift team again in 1999 KV promoted back to First, in 2001, followed by a new degradation and in 2002 the club was promoted once again to the highest class. In the 2002-2003 season was the club however severe financial problems. The impending deletion of the union lists could be prevented by a money collection campaign of the association '"Red KV Mechelen", "rope put on by Mark Uytterhoeven, Piet den Boer and Van Hoof Fi.
