Batistuta not in top 10 but this Nordahl did make it, plus Dixie Dean, Bloomer, Binder and Labruna ahead of him makes the entire list pointless..

Stuart, I seriously admire your will to post this 'objective' list. :mrgreen:

I don’t know, I’m starting to think it’s not too bad as long as they use the word “greatest” instead of “best”. Batistuta was a phenomenal striker but he won virtually nothing in his career so his “legacy” is certainly smaller than someone like Labruna who won a ton of trophies on top of all his scoring records. I mean, I also consider Pelé the “greatest” player ever, and Alex Ferguson the “greatest” manager ever, but I don’t consider either of them the “best” ever.

Plus the guy that made this list is trying to look at every era as absolutely equal, so being the best player of the 1910s is the same as being the best player of the 1990s. I guess it’s an impossible task to get the balance right since he obviously hasn’t watched every player listed here but I don’t think he did a terrible job considering there’s 1100 players on these lists. I mean, I don’t think I could do better :lol:

Actually, I think it is a pretty good list. Some preferences can be discussed but overall it is a very lucid list.

I was just wondering when it was made. I guess 2011 since the bigsoccer's post is from this year. Some seriously changes have already happened with some contemporany players.

Yeah, of course Lewy and Lucho can be named here, both at least top 30.
