INFO:

One of the biggest legends in TSV 1860 history whose career and life was ruined by alcohol. Excellent centre forward who was more like inside forward with his tendency to come deep and take part in quick combinations and passes with teammates. Great scorer but also could make very good pass, with good pace and dribbling skills. He was strong player, gifted technically and good shooter and wasn't selfish. In the first three years Rudi Meier fountain was one of the superstars of the newly introduced Bundesliga. He was by Uwe Seeler, the second top scorer in the Bundesliga with TSV 1860 Munich story and the scoring from the service. He started his career in 1960 in Giesing (he came from SC Olching to the lions) and was already in the time before the creation of the Bundesliga a celebrated marksman of the Oberliga Süd. There he won in 1961 and 1963, the top scorer. 1963 in the last championship before the introduction of the Bundesliga, he also won the South German championship in 1860. Three years later, then handed it to the big throw, he was with the Giesingern German football champions of the season 1965/66. Two years earlier, in the year 1964 fountain Meier celebrated winning the DFB Cup and the following season he was with the "Sechzgern" in the finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup. There, they lost in London against the local favorite West Ham United 0:2. The "Sechzger" were in the 60s at its peak and Rudi Meier fountain was next to goalkeeper Petar Radenkovic the big star in Leo ensemble. But even at the height of his career fountain Meier had a drinking problem. So he came in the summer of 1965 the influence of alcohol home when the postman handed him an urgent telegram to the appeal in the B team. Problem: The game against the Soviet Union was on the same night and his plane went to the Venue Cologne in a few minutes. Well Meier got the machine and slept off his intoxication afternoon from the hotel. In the evening he met after his short rehab twice in a 3-0 against the USSR. For the A-team played well Meier incidentally five international matches (3 goals). Even after Cup 1966 Fountain Meier built from in terms of performance and only came up with 21 Bundesliga appearances. He could still contribute 15 hits to the championship, he now met only seven times. For the gates attended more frequently midfield ace Hans Küppers and colleagues Peter Storm Large and Hans Bruendl. 1967/68 was the only 27 year old fountain Meier on 12 missions and scored one goal. Well Rudi Meier left in 1860 after this disappointing season and hoofed it until 1980 as a player in the Alpine countries of Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein. As the career was finally over, did not go much together in the life of Rudolf Meier wells. Professionally, he tried to gain a foothold there, where he felt most at home off the court. He was manager of the night club "Queen of Spades" and "Dolly Bar". He was his own best customer and could watch as his wife sold the common house in Munich and blew with the proceeds. The money was well Meier, he squandered in his milieu of red light, alcohol and gambling. 1987 Meier had fountains after a drunk driving for half a year in jail. Then he tried to make money as an insurance agent, but the former striker brought in commission-related business barely handle trades actually. Finally he falsified insurance contracts in order to come to the commission and has been re-sentenced as criminals to justice. Henceforth Meier well kept as a day laborer on construction, bouncers in red light bars or pretzel vendor in the center of Munich on water. He was the kind of ex-professional footballers, who hoped to be recognized at the bar to get a drink and then donated a shoulder knock for a short anecdote. A short turnaround came again the beloved sport of football. For the coach in Garmisch and he was dry rose within three years from the district level in the national league on. There, for the first time introduced a sporty failure and Rudi well Meier was ismissed. A major setback for him, his consequence: "I'm dead now!" Unfortunately, he followed the harsh words, deeds, and died in 2003 as impoverished and of lonely alcoholic in his Olchinger 35sqm apartment. The former fan favorite, who left no family, was buried at the expense of his former club TSV 1860 Munich and great public participation at the Munich East Cemetery.
