INFO:

Helmut is twin brother of Erwin Kremers and he played mainly as offensive left back. Very versatile player and good set piece taker, Helmut Kremers was one of the best German left backs of 70's and 80's. He had solid pace and dribbling, knew to send good long ball but also make decent job in man marking despite his offensive attitude. Moving up to the Bundesliga squad of Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1967, Helmut Kremers won his first of two German Cup trophies with then lower league side Kickers Offenbach in 1970. In 1972, he had joined FC Schalke 04 together with his twin brother Erwin in 1971, he was able to lift the trophy for a second time. Unlike his twin brother, who played winger, full back Helmut had spells with other clubs after the end of his deal with Schalke, playing for Rot-Weiss Essen in the 2nd Bundesliga of 1980–81 and for North American Soccer League team Calgary Boomers in 1981. In total Kremers scored 50 goals in 273 Bundesliga appearances. In the fall of 1981, he joined the Memphis Americans of the Major Indoor Soccer League for one season. Helmut Kremers played in eight games for his country, the last time on 12 March 1975, in a friendly defeat at the hands of England. Although playing on less occasions for West Germany than his twin brother (who won 15 caps), Helmut Kremers was part of the 1974 FIFA World Cup winning squad. Erwin missed out on that due to a disciplinary decision taken beforehand. With three months as president in 1994, the native Schalke Mönchengladbach also connects bad memories. "I believe, was to give the club a lot. But all the leaders were shocked when I was elected. "Everyone was against me, he said. Kremer received death threats and went back quickly. That the former professional had ever been elected to office, he owed his brother also. Erwin whispered one before the General Assembly of the crucial sentence: "In my day we moved even before games against Dortmund." Culminating in the jubilation of "Helmut, Helmut" shouts.
