Legendary German coach Klaus Toppmoller was also great player aw well. In fact Klaus could become one of the best German strikers but first a heavy car accident in 1976, than severe knee injury in 1979 ruined his career. He was excellent scorer, calm finisher, very strong player with good technique and excellent heading abilities. He sometimes played even much deeper in midfield, good worker not just scoring machine. Toppmöller, engineer for building services engineering, started his career at SV Rivenich and then went to the former division side Eintracht Trier, where he scored 33 hits in two years. He then played in the Bundesliga from 1972 to 1980 for the first 204 times FC Kaiserslautern and scored 108 goals. The striker is now up to the Red Devils' leading scorer from the Palatinate. 1976 (against Spain) and 1979 (against Malta and Turkey) played Klaus Toppmöller three times in the German national football team. In his international debut on 22 May 1976 in Munich in the European Championship qualifying match against Spain 2-0 win he scored his first and only international goal immediately. 1980 Klaus Toppmöller moved to Dallas Tornado in the U.S. professional league, and after only one season (31 league with seven goals and missions) to the Calgary Bommers, before ending at FSV Salmrohr in the Second Bundesliga his playing career. Previously, he had marked in the former amateur league south of the Val de Salm in the period from 81/82 to 85/86 114 goals. Even during his playing time was manager of the FSV Salmrohr Toppmöller. In March 1987 he took over the coaching job of the second division of Robert Young and served as player-coach. He could not however prevent the descent of the association. Until 18 April 1988, he was a coach in Salmrohr. It was followed by further engagements with the SSV Ulm 1846 (19 April 1988-February 1989) and bismuth Aue (28 November 1990 to 30 June 1991). His first stop in the second Bundesliga had the SV Waldhof Mannheim (September 19, 1991 to 30 June 1993). On 1 July 1993 took Toppmöller Eintracht Frankfurt, with which he made a sensationally successful season. After subsequent failures of the team and missed the championship so he was on 10 April 1994 Frankfurt dismissed. From 9 November 1994 to 30 June 1999, he coached against VfL Bochum, with which he penetrated into the season 1997/98 to the last sixteen of the UEFA Cup. The next stop was the first coach FC Saarbrücken, 2000 with whom he gained promotion to the second Bundesliga reached. On 29 November 2000, after a 2:8 defeat, was dismissed Toppmöller. Previously, a change to the first burst FC Kaiserslautern, who sought a successor for the sacked Otto Rehhagel. Of 23 October 2003 until 17 October 2004, he was succeeded as coach Kurt Jara at Hamburger SV and managed the team in 33 league games. Attacking midfielder Sergei Barbarez put Toppmöller once due to injuries in a game in central defense. HSV Toppmöller was dismissed when the club was on its last place. it was also partly responsible in leaving the cup competition against Paderborn. The game was manipulated by referee Robert Hoyzer. On 1 February 2006, Klaus Toppmöller the post of national coach in Georgia. As assistant coach he committed Ralf Minge. It was Toppmöller first station abroad, although he had already been wooed by his successes with Leverkusen in the Champions League in 2002 by many European clubs. On 2 April 2008, resolved his contract with the Georgian Football Federation prematurely. Reason given for the resignation with "extremely mediocre results," as announced federation president Nodar Akhalkatsi left. The team had in the qualifying only three wins -.
