INFO:

Hans-Günter Bruns or just "Bruno" is retired German player, playing in midfield or as a libero. Bruns had great ball control, strength, good shot and solid dribbling for a defender/defensive midfielder. He was very offensive, regularly joining and starting the attacks from the back line. In the Bundesliga he played from 1973 to 1990 for FC Schalke 04, SG Wattenscheid 09, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Borussia Moenchengladbach. In his early years as a professional he played in midfield, and later in the Libero position. In 1980 he was with Fortuna Dusseldorf DFB Cup winner, 1984 he was defeated with the Borussia Moenchengladbach in the final of that competition by FC Bayern Munich on penalties. For the German national team in 1984, he played four times and was in the squad for the European Championship 1984 in France but didn't play in competition. Bruns is responsible for one of the most famous post hits in Bundesliga history. In the season 1983/84 he sprinted into the game against Bayern Munich with a solo run past the opponent's back line over the entire field. His shot on goal bounced off the left inside of the post, the ball rolled off the line to the right post and jumped from there back into the field, where Munich defense could clear the danger. After his retirement from professional football Bruns worked first as an insurance agent. He also coached in the Adler Osterfeld Oberliga Nordrhein, VfB Speldorf later in his home town of Mülheim an der Ruhr and the SSVg Velbert. From 2006 he was coach of the Red-White Oberhausen and led the club in 2007 as Master of the Oberliga Nordrhein back to the regional and in following the 2008 season in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 2008/09 season he moved to Rot-Weiss Oberhausen to the position of Athletic Director and thus replaced with Jürgen Luginger the tasks. After Luginger on the basis of a lasting negative series 1 February 2010 was sacked Bruns took as a caretaker coach. On 22 April 2010, it was announced that he will retain both offices permanently in the 2010/11 season.
