Former Swedish legend, an absolute world class player till the horrible injury in 1994 which ended his career. Usually an inside forward but in Parma also central midfielder, Brolin had excellent dribbling, great ball control, fat and strong but also had good explosive speed, good shooting especially from awkward angles, inventive and decent passer. Brolin started his career in the men's field in 1984, aged 14, in Näsvikens IK. When the then fourth division, he soon became a regular player. In 1986, GIF Sundsvall lured into the football academy, where Brolin was further trained and came to his pro debut. After two years, Sundsvall was staying, decided the offensive all-rounder to move to top flight outfit IFK Norrkoping. Already during the preparation and throughout the course of the season, he became powerful and convincing through gates and power. He quickly became known in Sweden as the "Golden Boy" and hopes were on him. After only a short time when Brolin signed-promoted Serie A Parma a contract and went to Italy. That same year he was first elected to Sweden's Footballer of the Year. In Parma, the midfielder was now together with Alessandro Melli a top offensive duo. Both came in the season 1990/91 combined 20 goals (7 goals Brolin) and placed so that their club to fifth in the league. This qualified the club for the first time in club history for the UEFA Cup. There are however different in the first round against the Bulgarian representatives from CSKA Sofia. The following season was again very successful nationally. Brolin graduated from all league games and led his team in the competition for the Coppa Italia to the final against Juventus Turin. After a 1-0 forward and a 2-0 second leg win the first trophy in club history was obtained. This team started the 1992/93 European Cup Winners' Cup. About Újpest Budapest, Boavista Porto, Sparta Prague and Atletico Madrid, AC Parma came to the finals, where Royal Antwerp FC was the enemy. Goals from Lorenzo Minotti, Alessandro Melli and Stefano Cuoghi for Parma and a goal from Francis Severeyns Antwerp, the team won 3-1 by Nevio Scala. It was both Brolin, and Parma's first international title. Until the final Brolin is provided along with Faustino Asprilla Neueinkauf a battle for the starting place, which was usually the preferred Asprilla and often watched from the bench, the Swede from the game. At the meeting, however, the preference was given Antwerp Brolin and completed the full ninety minutes. In the summer of 1993 the club undertook the offensive forces of Gianfranco Zola and Massimo Crippa. Although Scala coach sat next to Brolin, ordered him but in the game system further behind in the defensive area. Again, it managed the team in the final of the Cup Winners' Cup. But this time, the team drew 0-1 against Arsenal shorter. Brolin was again full season on the field. On 16 November 1994, the midfielder was injured in a game for the national team. This led to a broken foot, which should put him out of action for some time. At that time led Parma to the Italian league as the first. On 23 April the following year returned Brolin. Since his team was already a distant second place in the sun on the 13th place By the end of the season, the Swede had to fight to find his form. He came regularly to missions. In the summer of 1995 committed the AC Board of Hristo Stoichkov, for fear that his old form Brolin would not reach. Despite good performances in the run up to 1995/96 season, coach Scala built less on the Swedes. On 17 November 1995, he was so famous his move to English club Leeds United tradition. Leeds coach Howard Wilkinson saw Brolin in the perfect template generator for Anthony Yeboah. A day after he signed a contract with the English, Brolin came to his Premier League debut. In the match against Newcastle United was the offensive player in the 82nd Mark Ford minute substitute. Four days later he was already in the starting of the club. But subsequently it was rather bad for Brolin. After initial problems with coach Wilkinson and discussions about Brolin weight, it was on 1 April 1996 to a slugfest between him and his coach. Brolin was on Swedish TV on April Fool's joke as a change to his former club IFK Norrköping and angered by his boss. That same day he had to apologize in person at Wilkinson. The ratio was two in the coming months, not better and the signs were quickly back to separation. In the summer of 1996, Brolin was on to find a new club. After a long time no club already told the Swedes want to buy, borrowed from the Swiss club FC Zurich. Brolin felt well at his new employer and sought to remain at the Alpine Club. But Leeds Neutrainer Brolin George Graham ordered back to England in October. Although the lending period only until 30 September was valid, Brolin was allowed on 9 Again in October for Zurich beat FC St. Gallen. Make him an ultimatum Graham continued until 6 November in order to report to club after this not reached him. On 13 November the failure of a business loan with Sampdoria after Brolin is not the medical test was over. The reason was still the after effects of his injured leg. Make sure to also examine the Leeds players thoroughly, and we feared he would end his career prematurely. On 24 December wanted to end the chapter of Leeds United midfielder, has been known as that would be former club AC Parma and lend him an option to set up a purchase. By a financial commitment to share freely bought Brolin in the English and returned to Italy. Only on 23 February 1997 gave the midfielder a comeback in the yellow and blues. The team celebrated the end of the season, the runner-up, with Brolin came on short missions. Finally, the Board decided against a solid commitment of Sweden, when they had concerns about his fitness. On 16 June 1997 ran out of the loan contract with Parma, and shortly afterwards he had to get back to Leeds. Manager Graham emphasized the offensive all-rounder from the squad and put him close to look for another club. On 29 August is to move to Spanish club Real Zaragoza Brolin, but failed in this by the fact that the Spanish transfer window has been closed. Another change to the Heart of Midlothian failed shortly thereafter. After much discussion between Brolin, the consultants and the Leeds board was one of 28 October for the agreement to terminate the contract. On 16 November 1997 he asked Steve Coppell, manager of Crystal Palace, if Brolin would support the club as a player with a Sweden tour, as the ailing club in financial revenue expected. Brolin agreed and met on 5 January of the following year with the team. After the club offered him good impressions on the two-week tour a contract until the end of the season. Already on 10 Brolin was in January, despite being overweight, and his league debut for the form of residue Crystal. By season's end, it was clear as crystal relegated to the paths of the two parties again separated, and Brolin returned to his native Sweden. On 27 April 1997, he wore the jersey for the last time Lonodoner clubs. On 12 Brolin announced in May 1998 when then 29-year-old end of his career as a professional player. His last appearance was on 29 August 1998 Hudiksvalls ABK against Kiruna FF, as he came off the bench for the last 15 minutes as goalkeeper. His debut in the dress of the Swedes gave Brolin 1990 against the selection of Wales'. In this he get two goals in 4-2 victory against the British team. Shortly afterwards he heard of the football squad for 1990 World Cup. As the youngest player in the team, he came in all three group games for use with the Swedish team was eliminated. In the opening match against Brazil, he managed also his first World Cup matches. During the Euro 1992 was one of the pillars of the team Brolin, that in the first round Denmark, France and England left behind. Brolin was the 1-0 victory against the Danes with his match winning goal. In the semifinals, the team met with Germany, however, was eliminated by 2:3. Brolin managed in the meantime the first goal after penalty 1:2. Shortly after he took the Olympic team of his country to the Olympic Games in 1992. There, the team made it to the quarter-finals. At the age of 24, in the prime of his career, Brolin went to the 1994 World Cup in the USA. The Swedes were then little tournament opportunities promised. But the young team with players like Patrik Andersson, Stefan Schwarz, Henrik Larsson and Martin Dahlin was able to convince. After two draws and a win, the team qualified for the knockout round. There, they managed it to the semifinals and met Brazil, the one wrested a 1-1 draw in the group stage. With a goal by Romario, one had to be lost the game 0-1. In the match for third place in the Elchkicker rehabilitated and won 4-0 against the team from Bulgaria. It took his team by Brolin's 1-0 opening goal on the road to victory. A total of three hits him go at the World Cup in seven games. Together with three other Swedes, the midfielder missed a minute of his team. During the qualifying match on 16 November 1994 against Hungary broke the European Football Championship 1996, Brolin's foot. This injury threw him back a long way and he should never again be able to build on its past performance. On 7 May of the following year, a week after his league comeback, a comeback was the offensive player in the dress of the Swedes against the team from Iceland. After him, the Swedish coach Tommy Svensson early 1996 no longer considered and thought Brolin was not at 100%, this was the end of his international career.
