Eraldo Pecci is one of the most underrated Italian players in history, some people in Italy consider him as one of the best creative midfielders Italy has ever produced. But Pecci, the great team leader as he was, was used to say directly "in your face" what he thinks and that limited his chances in Italian National Team, since the coaches didn't like his temperament outside the pitch. Pecci as a player had fantastic tactical awareness, great passing range and technique, not fast but strong and with great understanding with his teammates. Eraldo Pecci was formed as footballer in Bologna, in which he debuted in Serie A in 1972. With the rossoblùs Pecci won the Italian Cup in 1974, marking the last and decisive penalty in the final against Palermo. Established as brain in midfield in the summer of 1975 was purchased by Turin. With the grenade he won the Scudetto in 1976, collecting 203 appearances (153 league, 33 in the Italian Cup, and 16 in European Cups) and scoring 16 goals (10 league, 4 in the national cup and 2 in Europe). In 1981 he left Torino and move to Fiorentina, along with the bomber Graziani. In Florence Pecci was campaigning for five seasons. In 1985 he was transferred to Napoli and then returned the following season to the team he had seen the birth of his football career, Bologna. He remained in Bologna until the autumn of 1990, when the coach opted for a midfield more muscular. He then moved to Lanerossi Vicenza in Serie C1, coached by the friend Romano Fogli, but after the relegation of the latter decided to retire from actice playing. Pecci with the Italy national football team has played six games, beginning Sept. 27, 1975 in a game valid for the European Championship qualifiers against Finland in 1976 in Rome (0-0). Also has 9 games with the national B and 2 with the National Youth and especially participated in the World Cup 1978 in Argentina. Once retiring from playing career, Eraldo Pecci undertook the task of TV commentator and is often paired with Bruno Pizzul in broadcasting the games of the senior Italian National team. He was later a columnist for the newspapers "Il Giorno". Pecci has also been repeatedly named by the Italian people as the best commentator mainly due to his great sense of humour.
