Taremi is a centre forward, capable of playing as secondary striker and occasionally as winger, usually on the left. His career began in 2010, playing for Shahin in Iran's Pro League, and Iranjavan in the second division. In 2014 he transferred to Persepolis, where he played 112 matches in three and a half seasons, scoring 55 goals. After one and a half season in Qatar at Al-Gharafa, he joined Portuguese team Rio Ave, scoring 21 goals in 37 appearances. He signed for Porto in 2020 and has scored 62 goals in 114 games so far. He capped for Iran 61 times to date, scoring 30 goals.
Taremi is a prolific goal poacher, distinguished for an excellent eye for goal, quick footwork, composure in front of the goal, accuracy on both feet, the ability to score in acrobacy. He's amazing inside the box thanks to his positional sense and awareness to anticipate where the ball will end. Despite his great physical prowess, he knows how to win penalties, and he's also a penalty taker specialist. He's good in the air, technically gifted, has fine speed, and he's capable of dribbling opponents, hold off defenders with his physique, drop deep into midfield or to either flank and link-up with his teammates by sending superb passes. Once he delivers a pass, he can move forward before making a fast short sprint after positioning himself on the shoulder of the final defender, so that he can receive the ball back and beat the goalkeeper. When he moves to the flank, he often makes dribbling inside, finding space to shoot. He's a mix between a n°9 and a n°10, scoring and creating chances, dropping deep to create numerical superiority, or even recovering and sweeping balls when necessary.
