INFO:
Kuznetsov came to Voroshilovgrad Zarya from Tavria. It was impossible not to admire his game. It was worthy of making educational films. As a midfield player, he had a wide range of actions - from his own and to other people's goals, had excellent ball possession technique, made filigree passes, had a strong and accurate shot, demonstrated amazing mutual understanding with partners. There was harmony in his game - physical abilities, football intelligence, plus excellent human qualities. Not possessing "supermodel" characteristics in terms of anthropometry, he perfectly played with his head, perfectly mastered the technique of working with the ball, read the game at some intuitive level, and, in addition, having high speed, did a huge amount of work. He was repeatedly offered to move to Dynamo Kiev and Moscow teams, but he remained faithful to Zorya and Luhansk, the city that became native for the pupil of Crimean football.

With the arrival in September 1969 to the coaching post of German Zonin, a turn took place in the fate of Viktor Kuznetsov. At the request of the coach, he temporarily replaced the injured player, and in the position of an attacking midfielder, his game became useful for the team. A quick exit from defense to attack due to medium and long-range passes and audacity near the opponent's penalty area helped to prudently lead partners to the final blow. Kuznetsov sent verified top passes to forward Yuri Eliseev, and he effectively sent the ball into the net with a header. Also, timely vertical passes by V. Kuznetsov to the ram-type striker Vladimir Starkov allowed the latter to irresistibly hit the gate. When full-backs joined Zorya's attacks, Viktor Kuznetsov occupied their position in defense - he insured partners in case of a counterattack.

In the main team of the Luhansk Territory, Viktor Vasilyevich Kuznetsov won the USSR championship (1972), spent 12 seasons (1968 - 1979), played more than 360 official matches, scored 50 goals, participated in two final matches for the USSR Cup (1974 and 1975), scored a goal, playing in four games for the European Cup (1973).

Viktor Kuznetsov was twice included in the list of 33 best football players of the USSR under the second number in 1972 and 1974, and four times in the list of 33 best football players of Ukraine. He played 8 matches for the USSR national team, participated in the qualifying matches of the 1974 World Cup. European Youth Champion 1967.
