A ball virtuoso due to his refined and versatile technique. He was also quite fast as he ran the 100 meters in 10.8 seconds. Firstly he played as a creative left inside striker (but was purely right footed), later he became and could also be used as a midfielder. Pahlplatz played directly in the starting lineup in his first season with FC Twente and played in all 34 games. Twente did better every season and even competed for the national title for a long time in the 1968/69 season. Meanwhile, Pahlplatz had also made his first international match for the Dutch national team, on November 29, 1967, he made his debut against the Soviet Union. From 1967 to 1972, he played thirteen international matches, scoring three times. However, Pahlplatz was not really satisfied with his role in Orange. Initially, he was usually a substitute or reserve and was about to join national coach Georg Keßler for the national team. Because of Piet Keizer, then placed on the left wing, Pahlplatz usually had to switch to the right wing during his time with the national team, or found himself on the substitutes’ bench.
In his penultimate international match on 30 August 1972 against Czechoslovakia, did he play right winger position. On November 1, 1972, he played his last international match, against Norway.
Pahlplatz scored a total of 82 goals in 468 official matches for FC Twente.
