INFO:Initially midfielder, later often used as centre or wing striker. Player with a great reaction and header. Strong in duels, adequately fast. Team player pur sang, Lubse did the dirty running, demolition and disruption work for the stars of PSV in the 1970s. Lubse is smart and clever and in 1978 he appears to fit perfectly in an attack with René van de Kerkhof, Gerrie Deijkers and Van der Kuijlen, his idol. In that role, Lubse regularly picks up his goals that year. In the competition no fewer than 14 in 34 matches. His most legendary moment for PSV was in the home match against FC Magdeburg in the battle for the UEFA Cup. PSV had lost 1-0. In the return, the Germans had enough for the win at 3-2. In the very last minute the ball came through the crossbar in front of Harry Lubse's feet. He lashed out and shot full into the roof of the goal: 4-2. On to the semi-finals. The stadium exploded.
His statistic is impressive: 321 matches for PSV, 111 goals. Three national championships, 2 KNVB cups and the 1978 UEFA Cup. Even though he was on the shortlist for WC 1974 and was chosen for WC 1978 (did not play), he had just one international match, in 1975 vs Finland in which he scored.
