INFO:Second line player. Brought to Legia in place of Bernard Blaut, who went abroad, and Lucjan Brychczy, who was soon ending his career. A "special tasks" footballer, very versatile, reliable, great tactician and excellent in defense. Left footed but uses both. Liked to play deep passes.
He was most successful defending the colors of the Warsaw Legia, where he played 226 matches and scored 14 goals. With Legia, he won the Polish vice-championship in 1971, the Polish Cup in 1973 and 1980 and reached the quarter-final of the European Cup in 1971. He was also the team captain at one point. Ćmikiewicz played for the Polish national team, for which he earned 57 caps. He was a participant at the 1972 Summer Olympics, where Poland won the gold medal; at the 1976 Summer Olympics, where Poland won the silver medal and at the 1974 FIFA World Cup, where Poland won the bronze medal.
