Arrived at the same time as Platini, La Rouille imposed himself quite quickly and started as a pro during the 1973-74 season. On his return from loan from the funky Hot-Mount, La Rouille's career is picking up speed. Bold and cheeky, he is also an extremely fast winger. After his 1976 summer Olympic disappointments, he honored the first of his seventeen selections (2 goals) for the France team during a trip to Sofia in a qualifying match for the World Cup. He had a dotted international career, taking advantage above all of the injuries to Blues right-winger Dominique Rocheteau to play: His winning goal at the Parc des Princes against W. Germany in 1977 remains memorable. He also took part in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. With Nancy, he won the Coupe de France the same year. He then became the team's captain in 1979. In 1978-79, Nancy qualified for the Cup Winners' Cup but did not pass two rounds, eliminated by the Geneva garnets. But at the end of the season, his career was slowed down following a broken tibia. In 1981 he was transferred to Strasbourg for three seasons. Then he finished his professional career in Lyon from 1984 to 1986. Olivier Rouyer has made 287 top-flight appearances in which he has scored 84 goals and fourth place in the 1976/77 season was the best final placement. Spoiler: show |
