INFO:
Great physical abilities. His kicking technique, head play, reaction speed and sense of position are all excellent. He had a fine ability to control and to have the appropriate authority among those who play around him. Rarely with the ball, overall slow, just tackling and heading game. Between 1970-72 he was considered the best sweeper in Europe alongside Beckenbauer.

Páncsics played most of his career at Ferencváros Budapest, where he debuted in the 1963 National Championship. When the club became national champions in the 1964 season, the defender was still the same as when they won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1964/65 - here he was not called up by coach József Mészáros in the 1-0 final win over Juventus Turin - mainly as a substitute, two years later, however, he had established himself as a regular player and won with the team in the 1967 and 1968 seasons the championship again. At the same time, he became a national team player, and in October 1967 he made his debut as part of qualifying for the 1968 European Championship finals in the 0-1 defeat against the East German national team in Leipzig in the jersey of the Hungarian selection . Although qualifying for the UEFA tournament was missed, in the summer of the following year he took part in the football competition at the 1968 Summer Olympics. There, the number '4' defender did not miss any of the six games en route to the gold medal, which was won in a 4-1 final win over Bulgaria.

1972 was a similarly successful year for Páncsics. In the spring, the defensive player led the Hungarian national team onto the field for the first time as team captain when they lost a friendly game with a 0-2 defeat against the German national team in March of that year through goals from Paul Breitner and Uli Hoeneß. After winning another national title with the Hungarian National Cup in the spring, he took part in the European Championship finals in Belgium in the summer. After a 0-1 defeat against the Soviet Unionin the semi-finals, in the match for third place, he replaced regular captain Ferenc Bene, who was eliminated early in that match. Missed a medal after losing 2-1 to Belgium. This, in turn, he got at the Summer Olympics in Munich, when again he succeeded in reaching the final. Despite a temporary 1-0 lead after a goal by Béla Várady, the team left the Olympic Stadium in Munich with a 1-2 defeat against Poland with only the silver medal because Kazimierz Deyna turned the game around with a brace in the second half (and was crowned the sole tournament top scorer. In September 1973 Páncsics played the last of his official 37 senior internationals, plus 13 games at two Olympic final tournaments. He had remained without a goal.

Until 1974 Páncsics ran for Ferencváros, from the club he said goodbye after more than 300 competitive games by winning the national cup again. He was then in the squad at Honvéd Budapest for three seasons. Between 1977 and 1981 he still played underclass for the Budapesti Építők SC .
