INFO:An all-rounder, a versatile player very useful to coaches for his ability to adapt to any position both in defense and midfield. Excellent “latch”. Teixeira was lateral, central, or scoring midfielder. Teixeira was a very pendulous player, of short stature but of great impulsion that allowed him to argue in terms of equality in the aerial game, with manifestly taller opponents. In addition, he was the master of a strong versatility, having been used, throughout his career, both as a central defender and as a defensive midfielder, and as a full back.
He made his professional debut at the Matosinhos club in the 1970/71 season. He represented Matosinhenses for four seasons. In 1974/75 he transferred to Porto. His debut with the Dragons jersey took place on September 8, 1974 at Estádio Das Antas when Porto players won 2-1 against GD CUF, in a match counting for the 1st round of the 1974/75 National Championship. Adelino Teixeira wore the Dragons jersey during the nine seasons that followed, where he won 1 Portuguese Cup, 2 National Championships, 2 Cândido de Oliveira Super Cups and 1 Porto Football Association Cup.
At the end of the 1982/83 season he left FC Porto. With the blue and white shirt, Adelino Teixeira won 6 titles, played 238 official games and scored 5 goals. In 1983/84 he went to Bessa. At Boavista FC where he played another two and a half seasons, as he joined FC Penafiel in the course of 1985/86, the club where he ended his football career at the end of that same season.
Adelino Teixeira represented the National Team 12 times.
