INFO:Fast scoring, deadly efficient goalscorer. His technical feats and dribbling were poor, but he had an excellent, strong header and he was a two-footed player.
Beheydt was discovered by Cercle Brugge while he was playing for then lower league side Winkel Sport. He scored 115 goals in 295 official matches played in nine seasons with Groen-Zwart. He was often the club's top scorer in the Championship (1976, 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1983). It is therefore not surprising that he is the club's third leading scorer of all time, behind Marcel Pertry and Josip Weber. The club's supporters named him twice, in 1976 and 1977, as best player of the year. In 1977, Anderlecht also wanted him, he had a talk with Constant Vanden Stock, but Beheydt knew his limitations and didn't make a transfer in the end.
Dirk Beheydt was also capped once for Belgium. He played in an away game against Italy on 26 January 1977. Belgium lost the match 2-1.
