He was combative, strong, had an excellent overview of the game, and what was his main feature - he shot like a cannon (often from over 40m), a strong and precise shot - called Aco Bonhof because of this. He was very successful in taking penalties and free kicks, and he also knew how to get a chance from the second plan. His game did not include strictly defensive tasks, he had a wide range of actions in the midfield and would sometimes go up to take a shot or set up assists (which he personally preferred more). Often had a task to mark Vladic, J.Jerkovic, Pizon and best creative playmakers, however he wasn't the type of player to stick to a direct rival and play a band-aid for 90 minutes. He always wanted more, to participate in the attacks of the team, but to get back in time and close the space in front of the goal. Often shot from outside the 16m, only 2-3 goals he scored with his head. Started in Sloga Kraljevo, he came to Partizan at the beginning of 1976, immediately after completing his military service. He made his debut at the end of the season and played 8 games until the end, contributing to winning the long-awaited championship title. In the following seasons, Aco Trifunović (incorrectly named Aleksandar or Aca, which wasn't his name), mostly in the position of defensive midfielder, is a standard member of the starting eleven and all the time one of the best players of Partizan. Without exaggeration, one of the symbols of the club in the second half of the seventies and the beginning of the eighties. With Partizan during the decade (1972-1983) he played a total of 436 games and scored 119 goals and won three championship titles - in 1976, 1978 and 1983 and 1 Mitropa Cup in 1978. He left Partizan in 1983 for the Italian Ascoli, for which he would play very successfully for 4 seasons. He played 11 games for the Yugoslav national team and scored two goals. He made his debut on November 13, 1977 in a match against Romania (6:4) in Bucharest, in which he also scored one goal, and said goodbye to the jersey with the national coat of arms on June 7, 1983 in a friendly match against SR Germany (2:4 ) in Luxembourg.
