He played in the right wing position, a temptation for opposing defenders, always especially inspired in eternal derbies vs Red Star. Along with Dzajic, Pasic, Tuce the footballer with probably the best crossing ability in Yugoslavia. He was known for his crosses in full run, the well known "swings" where the ball had some kind of effe as if it was going to leave the field, and in a fraction of a second the ball fell exactly between the goal and the penalty spot. He started his football career in Hajduk Veljko, a Serbian league team from Negotin, and joined Partizan in 1971. After only a few appearances for the first team, he was sent to Bor, for which he would play a season and a half, and he returned to Partizan in 1973 and in the following seasons was a standard player in the right wing position. He made a big contribution in winning the titles in 1976 and 1978, and his masterful goals against Red Star in the championship season 1977/78 and the season before that, both at the stadium of the biggest rivals, are especially memorable. One small curiosity - in the 1974/75 season, both in the championship, in the domestic and UEFA Cup, Ilija Zavišić played a total of 41 games (all of which Partizan played that season) and thus entered history as the first Partizan player to make over 40 appearances in one season. Zavišić left Partizan in 1980, for Eintracht from Braunschweig, for which he would play very successfully for the next 4 seasons, to say goodbye to football in the 1984/85 season, for the then second division club, Rad. In the period from 1976 to 1978, he appeared 9 times for the national team of Yugoslavia. He played for the youth and youth national team of Yugoslavia. He made his debut on February 24, 1976 in a friendly match with Algeria (1:2), and said goodbye to the national team on May 18, 1978 in Rome against Italy (0:0). During his ten-year stay in Partizan, he played a total of 386 games for Partizan, including 172 in the championship, and scored 26 goals in the Yugoslav championship, and with Partizan he won two championship titles - in 1976 and 1978, as well as the Mitropa Cup in 1978. years. Son Bojan also played for Partizan for a while. Spoiler: show |
