His specialty was the head game, he had an excellent jumper. High fighting spirit, Ruty sometimes launches up to the attack but not very dangerous in his sprints. He was 19 years old when he made the leap into the first division team in 1978, for which he played regularly from the beginning; At the end of his first professional year, he became a regular player in defence. At the end of the 1979/80 season, he was with the team in second place, which equaled the French runner-up; personally, he also managed to make the leap into the French U-21 national team, even though he was denied the jump into the senior selection of his country. Although he was able to maintain his regular place and was in the course of the 1985/86 season in all games of the league on the pitch, it was above all the poor results of his club that prompted him in 1986 to turn his back on Sochaux after eight years. In the same year, Ruty signed for Toulouse, where he also received a place in the starting eleven. In addition to single-digit table positions, he achieved in his first two years for the new employer two participations in a row in the European competition, in which he had participated once with Sochaux. Similar to his former club, he had to accept the slipping within the league, even if the relegation never occurred; In the course of time he was replaced by the younger Jean-François Hernandez. In 1992, at the age of 32, Ruty decided to end his career after 391 first division games with five goals. Spoiler: show |
