He would often try to turn the opponent and his quick movement allowed him to do so. His crossing was pretty poor, although he acted more as an inside forward/winger. Louis Marcialis was an even more gifted player than Laurent Roussey and Laurent Paganelli (according to some testimonies) but quite frequent problems with one of his knees disturbed him but especially forced him to end his career at the age of 27. Louis Marcialis began his career in Bastia in 1978. From the start, he made occasional appearances, even if it took until the second season for him to get a place in the starting eleven. In addition, he took part in the UEFA youth tournament with France in 1979. In the following years, he had to start the relegation battle with Bastia; He scored twelve goals (16 in all tournaments) in the 1980/81 season and reached the 1981 national cup final, which earned him the only title of his career thanks to a 2-1 win over AS Saint-Étienne. This success also brought him participation in the European competition, allowing Marcialis to make his debut at European level. In the summer of 1982, a transfer of the player to RC Strasbourg was imminent, as Strasbourg cited this as a condition for the sale of its player Olivier Rouyer to Bastia; the change was averted by Bastia's veto. Accordingly, he remained in Corsica, where he missed numerous games due to several injuries, mostly due to muscular problems. He signed for Nancy in 1985 and stayed two years in Lorraine and in 1988 he retired in Ajaccio. Spoiler: show |
