INFO:
Striker of OM and PSG in the 70s and 80s, Sarr Boubacar is one of the first Senegalese players recognized to have dragged his big carcass and kindness on the French fields. It also embodies the proof that one can love the two sworn enemies of the championship of France, without having to make a choice. A lively and slender centre-forward, he scored a string of goals. At the age of 22, he landed at Sporting Toulon, then in D2, announced as the successor of Christian Dalger, nicknamed "Locotte", a kind of mispronunciation of "loco" made by his Senegalese friends, Sarr meets the expectations of the supporters: 14 goals the first season, 22 the second. OM offers him his chance to complete the offensive line composed of Georges Bereta and Hector Yazalde. Thanks to his confusing dribbling on his right wing, he produced a very decent first season, winning the Coupe de France against Olympique Lyonnais in 1976. Senegalese is loaned in D2 to AS Cannes, to the dismay of the Marseille public. On the lower floor, the big guy scores 23 goals. Enough to be immediately called back on the Canebière. The striker really underestimated at the time continues his momentum and scores 21 goals in the 1977-78 season which sees the Phocaeans finish 4th in the championship. He then left the south and stormed the Parisian capital. At the time, the big rivalry between the two clubs still did not exist. Boubacar shines brightly with Dominique Rocheteau and regains his feelings as a goalscorer, with 12 goals in 22 games. The following season, the darling of the Parc des Princes starts on the same bases but an injury deprives him of a good part of the year. PSG took off in 1982 and won their first trophy, a Coupe de France against Saint-Etienne. The following season, the Red and Blue team made an honorable run in the Cup and offered a new Coupe de France in 1983, the third for "Bouba". But in the meantime, he loses his place to the detriment of the dazzling Chadian Nambatingue Toko. He then left PSG and returned to OM who was languishing in D2, helping them regain the first division status with 22 goals. He spent three seasons in the neighboring club of Martigues, enjoying the Provençal sun. In 1988, he accepted one last challenge and moved to the other side of the Atlantic by signing in the United States where he ended his football career.

During these two years in PSG, he was often seen wearing the #8, acting somewhere in between the midfield and attack. He was pretty versatile and could cover all positions up front (right winger, center forward or very offensive midfielder) Pretty static, he was not moving a lot in the field and when he would receive the ball his dribbles were very slow. Sarr was a player with strong physique, fine technique, long legs which enabled him to cover a lot but his acceleration was pretty poor during the PSG and as mentioned above, his dribbles and movements were often confusing. He would deliver occasionally nice through passes but in general, he was not a player who made a lot of difference in the field during these 2 years. All in all, he played in Parc des Princes for 4 seasons by playing 114 official matches, scoring 33 goals (7 of them only in these 2 Cup winning years) with 4 assists, and offering himself the cups of France 1982 and 1983.

In comparison, watching some of the videos from his early Marseille years, he was much more aggressive (even in defence), quicker and dazzling, much dangerous in the air - all while playing in the right wing.

Throughout his career he was referred to as Sarr Boubacar while his real name is Boubacar Sarr with "Sarr" being his surname.
