Initially a forward but was later converted to a full-back, Philippe Col was able to play successfully on both sides, but more known as a left back. A true defensive, quick and hard working full-back who would often have orders to mark the toughest opponents, Col wouldn't be seen in the attacking end much. Even if he crossed the half, when playing on the left back he would immediately switch to his right foot and either turn the ball back or cross it in an average manner.

Philippe Col joined PSG in 1978 after making his debut at Red Star. An important player in the squad, the full-back was present during the mythical 1982 final against Saint-Etienne and left in 1983 for Toulon with two France cups in the palmares. During the time spent in PSG, Col had played 119 official matches with 1 goal, 3 assists.
