INFO:
The Luxembourg "bull", elected greatest player in the history of FC Metz in one of the polls. Infernal goal machine that raged on the lawns of France between 1973 and 1978. Nico Braun is quite simply the all-time top scorer of FC Metz, with an exceptional ratio of 0.55 goals per game! In total, 96 goals in 170 matches.

A powerful, mobile and profilic striker, he had a strong header. He wasn't too fast but his reaction in the area was impeccable and together with his high accuracy with both legs, he was a real nightmare for the French goalkeepers in the 70s.

His power combined with Hugo Curioni's technique worked perfectly. He remembers in particular the quadruple against the big greens in a 5-1 victory in Saint-Etienne. "Nico was a formidable player," said Carlo Molinari. He participated in the great hours of the club and he was indeed one of the greatest players of the club. He remains the top scorer in terms of goals/games played in the club's history. SoFoot ranked him 202nd in French League history.

At the age of 20, Braun moved from Union Luxembourg to the German Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 and played a total of 36 Bundesliga games & 15 goals there from 1971 to 1973. He then moved to France to FC Metz, where, during his time there, he formed a striker duo with Argentinian Hugo Curioni for two seasons, nicknamed "Les artilleurs de Metz". After a stint at Belgian club SC Charleroi, Braun moved to French second division club FC Thionville. At Union Luxembourg, where he had already played in the youth, he then ended his career.

A prolific striker at club level, Braun won 40 caps for Luxembourg over a period of ten years scoring eight goals.
