Played as a left back or defensive midfielder, he was a hardy, powerful and determined defender, with excellent ball striking. Liked to play secure passes and try to move the team, however more of a defensive role in general. Good use of both legs, he would mostly try long shots/volleys from the back.
At the age of 15, he was spotted by Valenciennes coach Robert Domergue during a young footballer competition. he made his debut in adult football in 1965 playing for the Valenciennes team, in which he spent eight seasons, taking part in 152 league matches. In 1973, Robert Domergue brought him to Racing. A regular starter at left-back, defensive midfielder or even central defender, he became captain of the team in 1976/1977. He retained this title for three years and will therefore remain as the emblematic captain of the champions of France 1979 even if, slowed down by some physical glitches, he is not always a starter during this mythical season. However, Racing will only offer him a one-year extension. Very disappointed, he ended his professional career and joined Vauban. He won, with his new team, two new titles of champion of France, in amateurs this time, and is one of the few players to have been champion of France in D1, D2 and D3.
