INFO: The iconic playmaker of Racing, an artist, with a specialty that the ball sticks to his shoe. Possessed great physical power and strong ball strike. Of Polish origin, Francis Piasecki arrived at Racing in 1977 where he spent his entire end of his playing career until 1986. After Valenciennes (1970/71), Metz (71/72), Sochaux (72/75) and PSG of which he was a major element for two seasons, Piasecki quickly established himself as the mastermind of the team managed by Gilbert Gress. Everyone who knew that era remembers a brilliant player, a huge distributor in short and long passes. But also an effective goalscorer, he scored 14 league goals in the year of the title (1978/79), playing every match without exception. He then took his place among the most brilliant technicians in French football and was selected three times in the France team (twice against Luxembourg and against Spain) along with the late Dominique Dropsy, Léonard Specht, Roger Jouve and Albert Gemmrich, his teammates at Racing. A strong character, Piasecki combined talent with a fighting spirit that made him a darling of the Meinau. When, in the early 1980s, the star of Racing faded, Piasecki remained faithful to the Alsatian colors. At the end of his playing career, Piasecki joined the technical staff alongside coach Jean-Noël Huck.
