Passed by judo, rugby and athletics (long jump and cross), he was also very fast, with a good dribbling and impactful. He was able to show these qualities in several teams of the championship, such as the very young PSG, Metz, Rouen, Laval or Saint-Étienne. He had a high jump and solid header with which he scored goals, with a finely strong physique. He doesn't take a lot of shots and doesn't keep the ball, he plays one-touch football. But he was too fickle and unstable to hope that his successful career as a first division player would take on an international dimension. 835th player in top 1000 D1 players in history. Philippe Redon's trajectory is almost unique... Discovering football in Avranches at the age of 16, he then joined Stade Rennais in the amateur ranks, continuing in parallel his studies as a pharmacist. After graduating as a doctor of pharmacy, he signed for Red Star in 1975 and Paris SG in 1976. In 1978, seduced by the personalities of Bez and Couécou, he joined the Girondins de Bordeaux, also attracted by advantageous financial conditions and proximity to the ocean. But he made only a short stay in Gironde, adapting with difficulty to provincial life. Repositioned by Luis Carniglia in a midfield role that did not suit him, he was nevertheless most often a starter during his only season in Bordeaux, alongside Vukotic, Tota and Vergnes. After an anecdotal 10th place, disappointed by Carniglia, he flew away, without making a fuss, for FC Metz. Nevertheless, he finished second best right winger of the season, according to France-Football magazine, behind Dominique Rocheteau. This ranking validated his membership of the circle of the best French specialists in the position. It was in the early 1980s that he decided to return to his native department, Mayenne, where he contributed to the success of Stade Lavallois, which finished twice in a row in fifth place in the elite.
