Attack/Defence Awareness Card:
Attack-MindedINFO:A true fox on the pitch, Uwe Krause was during his three seasons at Stade Lavallois one of the best forwards of the France Championship. A complete attacker, he was a constant danger to opposing defenders. Fantastic reaction everywhere in the box, great back game and a strong shot, combined with a good vision of the game, positioning and technique to restart the game. Humble and hardworking, he was a model of professionalism, putting himself at the service of the team, making him a forward like no other. 668th player in top 1000 D1 players history.
The striker began his career in the men's division in the mid-1970s at Eintracht Braunschweig. In April and September 1976, he was included in two matches of the amateur national team against Danish youth selections and scored the winning goal in his second appearance in the 1-0 victory. From the 1977/78 season also used in the Bundesliga, he became a regular player for the Blue-Yellows in 1978/79 and scored seven goals in 28 games; In the following season, which ended with Braunschweig's relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga North despite the signing of striker Ronald Worm, the coaches Heinz Lucas and Uli Maslo, who replaced him in October 1979, only used him in 15 games in which Uwe Krause remained goalless. His positions in Eintracht were those of libero and attacking midfielder, before moving to striker.
In the summer of 1980, he moved to the French Division 1 to Stade Laval, who had already had good experiences with a German center forward named Erwin Kostedde the year before. Krause stepped into the spotlight almost immediately, with 23 goals he had shot his way to second place on the scorers' list The following year, his 18 "booths" (fifth-best shooter) led the club to 5th place in the final table; Laval also advanced to the quarter-finals of the national cup, where they were eliminated by AS Saint-Étienne. Also in 1982/83 Uwe Krause finished the Première Division with Stade Laval in fifth place, this time contributing 14 goals.
For the 1983/84 season, AS Monaco, a "great" of French football, brought him in, in which Krause won the trust of coach Lucien Muller from the first game in a strong team (including Amoros, Bellone, Genghini, Le Roux, Puel and goalkeeper Ettori) – and justified it with a dozen goals (thirteenth best shooter) in 38 league games. After the 38th matchday, Monaco was level on points with the Girondins Bordeaux at the top of the table, but was only runner-up due to the slightly worse goal quotient, although the team was still ahead of Bordeaux on the penultimate matchday Also in the cup, the Braunschweiger could hope for a title until the end; in the final, however, he remained goalless, so that outsiders FC Metz prevailed 2-0 in extra time.
It is not yet clear why Uwe Krause did not stay in Monaco after this successful season, but moved to FC Sochaux in 1984 – and thus again had to forego a UEFA Cup participation. In terms of sport, this was a step backwards for him, despite equally strong teammates ( Paille, Rust, Sauzée, Agerbeck), and in the two seasons there he scored a total of only 17 goals and an 8th and 15th place in the respective final table. In 1986, Uwe Krause moved back to the Mediterranean coast, where Dominique Bathenay had just earned his first spurs as a coach and Krause continued to strike for FC Sète for three more years in Division 2. Whether he was still active there after the relegation to the third division (1989) is not clear from the sources.
