gurkenjoe93 wrote: Thanks for the team but tbh I don't think that Johnson and Lombardo really deserve their place in best XI here. Lombardo only played 1 1/2 years for them and was already past his prime when playing for Palace. I'd replace him with Albert Harry who played 440 (!) matches with 55 goals for Palace who deserves the spot as right winger way more than Lombardo.. Andy Johnson surely did more for the team than Lombardo but after all Peter Simpson is their best goalscorer and considered as one of their greatest players ever, so I'd swap them as well.. You're welcome mate! I completely agree with you. I didn't even consider Lombardo for the main team and indeed Albert Harry was the first choice. I also wanted to put Rodger and Simpson in the first XI squad. However I decided to follow the best eleven named by Crystal Palace's fans in 2005. So what do you suggest: do I leave the first XI as it is or I switch Lombardo with Barber and Johnson with Simpson plus Lombardo with Harry in the main team?

What about Milivojević? He played only for a season and half, but during that time he became the club captain and he was key player in this season.

Lombardo played for Palace same time as Milivojević and he's in first team. And during that time, they were relegated. Not comparing these two players, just using the same logic.

I know and I understand your logic. In fact I said in the second post, answering to Gurkenjoe, that I used the best XI chosen by the fans but players like Lombardo don't deserve to be in the first team. Therefore I will make some changes.

I personally think that Zaha could deserve to be in the team over Andy Johnson, he’s definitely a better player, played more games for Palace and is pretty much the only reason they’ve stayed up this long. He’s their best player by absolute miles

He’s their best player by absolute miles Andy Johnson is considered a legend of the team but Zaha not yet I guess. Zaha also played only 2 games for England then he chose Ivory Coast probably because there was no place for him in England national team. I think Zaha has the potential to become a Palace's legend but I would wait to put him in the first team. However let's wait for others' opinions.

It's worth noting that Zaha is Crystal Palace born and bred, he started his career there, and has over 250 games for them at the age of 25, while Johnson only played four seasons at Palace. Most Palace fans I've spoken to online consider him a legend already and their best player since Ian Wright. Personally I think the only reason not to include him here is that he still plays for Palace. Obviously if other people disagree though, that's fine

Zaha plays his 300th game tonight for Crystal Palace, I can only repeat my suggestion that he deserves to be in the first team. He may only be 26 but John Salako for example was only 26 when he left Palace too, and he's in the first team, and Zaha was surely a better player than him too. Zaha is the only reason Palace have been anywhere near the Premier League the last few seasons and has only gotten better. He's definitely done more than Andy Johnson, who was purely an average player. Even in the season Johnson got 21 goals in the Premier League, 11 of them were penalties.

Yes, he should be already in this squad.

I'd replace Andy Johnson or Eddie McGoldrick, probably Johnson because there's already enough CFs in the team.
