INFO:
Los Angeles FC was founded in 2014 as an addition to the MLS. Even though it was established as a new team with its own identity, they are considered the successors of Chivas USA from both spiritual and financial standpoints. Existing from 2004 to 2014, Chivas USA folded on October 27 due to poor results and fanbase. Only three days after, Los Angeles FC was founded, becoming the official replacement of Chivas USA in the American league.
Technically though, Los Angeles FC has roots that go back to the 1970s in the Los Angeles Aztecs that were founded in 1973 and played in the NASL from 1974 to 1981, year of the dissolution of the club. Although the existence of the Aztecs and LAFC are decades apart and there's no direct connection between the two teams, Los Angeles FC can be considered a spiritual successor to the 1970s LA based team. And actually, the eagle wing in the Los Angeles FC logo is an homage to Los Angeles Aztecs.
