Born in Badajoz, Spain (04/06/1979), he began playing in the Argentine First Division in 1998 for Rosario Central but, given the club's financial problems, he was soon sold to Villarreal in his native country in 2001. He played for CD Onda, back then the reserve team of the Groguets, but did not play any games with Villarreal's first team. After his time in Spain, he joined FC Porto in Portugal but terminated his contract after just one month. In 2002 he returned to Argentina to play for Banfield and after a year there he moved to Colón. In the Santa Fe club, he had outstanding performances and was even the team's top scorer in some tournaments. However, a conflict with his transfer forced him to leave the institution to join Mexican team Morelia in 2006. After six months in Mexico, he returned once again to Argentina in Vélez Sársfield. After problems with his coach in Vélez, Ricardo La Volpe, he left the institution and was signed by Estudiantes. In the La Plata club, he performed outstandingly, managing to gain the affection of the fans. There, he reached the final of the Copa Sudamericana in 2008. He was part of the team that won the 2009 pre-Libertadores playoffs and later became champion, although by then, Moreno and Fabianesi had already left the club. In February 2009 he returned to the club where he began his career, Rosario Central, for six months. He then returned once more to Estudiantes, but the manager, Alejandro Sabella, did not take him into account, loaning him to a Greek football club, Xanthi FC, where he played just 8 games. Later he returned to Argentina to be part of Colón's team in 2010. After almost four seasons in the red and black team, he terminated his contract after a seven-month salary debt that the Santa Fe club owed the whole squad. In January 2014 he arrived as Liverpool FC's new reinforcement for the Uruguayan Clausura Tournament. Unfortunately in that team, and despite him being the main figure, they were relegated to the Second Division. In July 2014 he signed an 18-month contract with Club Atlético Huracán. During his time at the Parque Patricios club, he managed to be a fundamental piece for promotion to the Primera División, and winning that year's Copa Argentina and Supercopa Argentina. In addition, he managed to reach the final of the 2015 Copa Sudamericana, the first in the team's history. In 2015, after his contract ended, he decided to retire from football. Iván Moreno y Fabianesi was part of many great teams throughout the years, mainly Colón's 2004/05 and 2010/11, Huracán's 2014/15, Estudiantes' 2007/08 and Rosario Central's 2000/01. The teams where he played the most games were Colón (where he is the foreign player with the most goals and appearances ever) with 35 goals in 217 games, and Rosario Central, where he scored 20 goals in 135 games. Gaita, also is the fourth foreign player with the most appearances in the Argentinian First Division, with 443 games, spanned between 1998 and 2015. Spoiler: show |
