Defence-MindedINFO:Leonardo Burián is a Uruguayan footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Born in Melo, Cerro Largo (21/01/1984), Burián started his career at Club Nacional de Football in 2004. His spell in the Uruguayan giant lasted 9 years, and he would mostly be a backup keeper, receiving 40 goals in 36 games. His breakthrough year came in 2014, when as the starting goalkeeper of Colombian team Deportes Tolima he led them to a Copa Colombia. After just one year in Colombia (46 GA in 36 games), he returned to his homeland, to play for Montevideo Wanderers, where he would stay for two years, becoming one of the best goalkeepers in the Uruguayan League. He ended his spell for the Bohemians with 73 goals against in 69 games. Between 2016 and 2018 he played for Jaguares de Chiapas and Godoy Cruz, in Mexico and Argentina respectively, with little to no success. In June 2018, aged 34, Leonardo Burián joined the Argentinian team Colón de Santa Fe, as a replacement for Ecuadorian international Alexander Domínguez. During his 4-year period under the red and black mantle, Burián was able to establish himself as the most decisive goalkeeper in Colón's history. With saves in numerous penalty shootouts, "Cachorro" led the Santa Fe club to its first international final in the 2019 Copa Sudamericana and their first official title in the 2021 Copa de la Liga. In 2022, aged 38, he left Colón to join Vélez Sarsfield, where he stayed for two seasons. Since January 2024 he has been a free agent.
