Luis Medero was a former center-back. He was born in Hurlingham, Buenos Aires (24/01/1973) and made his professional debut for Boca Juniors in 1992. His debut year was also his breakthrough season, as he played 28 games that year, even winning the game on the day of his pro debut, against all-time rivals River Plate. Medero stayed in Boca Juniors between 1992 and 1996, playing 79 games for the xeneizes. In 1996, he joined the recently promoted team Colón de Santa Fe, and instantly gained a spot as the starting center-back. He would play in the red and black kit for 5 more years, between 1996 and 2001, playing 151 games total. After leaving Colón, he joined San Lorenzo where he would only play 22 games in two years. In the later stages of his career, Medero played for Club Olimpo, Argentinos Juniors, Emelec, Gimnasia y Esgrima (J), and Almagro, finally retiring in 2008, aged 35.
A fortuitous appearance in Boca's first team, due to the injury of starting center-back Juan Simón. Medero was considered by many as Argentina's biggest promise in 1992, although as the years went by, his star faded, also due to the high competition in the blue and gold club, covered by Fabbri, Giuntini, Gamboa, and Caceres. Although in Colón de Santa Fe his career resumed an interesting height, becoming an idol and one of the best defenders in the history of the institution, he was never able to recover that exposure he had at the age of 19, and that even got him called up to the National Team.
