Born in Laguna Paiva, Santa Fe (02/03/1951), he began playing for the amateur team C.A. Villa Rosario until in 1971 he arrived in Colón de Santa Fe, where he would write pages of glory. When he was just taking his first steps in the First Division, some media classified him as the most important figure on the team and sponsored a great future for him. The following years served to confirm that they had not been wrong. He was a pillar of the best defensive line in the history of the red and black team along with Enzo Trossero, Hugo Villaverde, and Edgar Fernández. He is considered one of the best players of his time in his position and is indisputably one of the greatest red and black players of all time. For many years he held the record for the most games under the red and black mantle until in 2011 it was surpassed by Esteban Fuertes, another of the great legends of the Santa Fe club. During his stay at the club (1971-1978, 1980-1981), Rubén Ernesto Araos would play 284 games and score 3 goals. Bambi, -as he was called-, also played for big teams in Argentina, such as Racing Club, in 1979, and for San Lorenzo in 1982, who hired him to help them return to the First Division since the previous year they had lost the category for the first (and only) time in their history. Araos retired in 1983 with the Chacarita Juniors shirt, at the age of 32. Araos retired in 1983 with the Chacarita Juniors shirt, at the age of 32. |
